Awards & Fun Day 2009
Saturday 6th June 2009

Despite forecasts of a gloomy and wet afternoon, the 6th Annual Awards turned out to be a great fun day for all concerned and the weather actually wasn’t that bad after all!!

The afternoon event kicked off with an “It’s a knockout” challenge with five teams of children and parents taking part in a range of fun games including the Banana Race which had everyone doing the splits! The catch was that in each event the team coming in last got a soaking in the stocks and yes Paul, Steve and Joe all had their turn getting wet.

Half way through the players were all presented with their Annual Player Award to recognise their contribution to the club for the 2008/09 season. It was then time for a bar-b-q cooked up by Steve French and Terry Cox with loads of salads and other goodies prepared by some of the parents all very ably organised by Elaine French.

It was then time for the presentation of some fun awards including the “The Offside Award” - For services to assistant referees presented to Emma Bradick from the U14s; The Loudest Coach Award: For services to the hearing aid industry given to Martin Perkins; and the The Smallest Player Award: For services to the clothing industry presented to Ellen Pilcher! Abi and Zoe were also presented with special edition club shirts as they are leaving the club and going to Australia – they will be missed!!

The Volunteer of the Year award was presented to Elaine French for all her hard work over the season and finally Sarah Mingaye, who is sadly stepping down at the AGM received a special engraved clock to commemorate her time with the club.

There was then a parent’s match and the evening closed with the Special Achievement Awards (see below for full details). Overall it was a fantastic afternoon for everyone involved. Thank you to everyone for their help in putting the event on. Just one sad note, Terry Cox unfortunately broke his leg during the Parents match. Good luck Terry and get well soon.

Under 14s Paintballing - Go Ballistic
Sunday 26th April 2009

Mass Warfare at Henfield!

Our U14s team were in trigger happy mood this Sunday as they went on a team building mission to Henfield the site of Go Ballistics Paintballing. A fantastic morning’s fun was had by all of the team including Paul who was the only one to get a decent injury – thanks to Ruby!!

The idea came from Elle who looked suitably scary on the day – though we are not convinced it was war paint. Emma gets the prize for the “Most Wide Awake Member of the Team” when she tried to cram all of her 300 pellets into a gun that could only take about 150!! Ruby gets the “Shot of the Day” for getting Paul at 50 yards. Rowanna and Jessica get the “Cheats of the Day” when despite getting shot about a million times in the last game they still carried on running with the flag. Finally Rhiannon gets the “Complete Donkey of the Day Award” for volunteering to be shot at the end of the event. All in all loads of fun and hopefully we can do it all again next year but with even more players.

Christmas Ten Pin Bowling
Saturday 20th December 2008

The Dynamo mid-season Christmas Break was celebrated with the club’s players and volunteers having some fun and games at the Brighton Marina BowlPlex.

The players and managers / coaches were split into groups of 7 to accommodate us on a number of lanes. Each group could compete against each other or as a group against the other groups. And I’m sure we did…….but we had too much fun to keep score!

Paul managed to find a novel way to bowl (see the photos!) and at the end of the morning everyone was able to receive a small present from our very own Dyna-Santa.

We’re back for practice on Saturday 3rd January at the usual time of 9.30 - 11.00am.

In the meantime, from all at Dynamo have a Fabulous Christmas and a Happy New Year

Official Clubhouse Opening by Casey Stoney
Saturday 22nd November 2008

We were delighted to welcome Chelsea and England Ladies player Casey Stoney to our home ground on Saturday morning to observe all the youth teams in their weekly training sessions. Although it was bitterly cold at Telscombe Playing Fields, we were delighted that Casey took the time out to join in with each of the age groups in turn and then spent further time chatting with the girls.

It was then time to perform the official opening of the Dynamo Clubhouse which we were delighted to take delivery of at the end of the summer. Time has been spent since then customising the unit with the inclusion of seating, storage units, display cabinets, creating a path and planting shrubs etc. Club chairman and head coach, Paul Cartwright, said a few words about the Club and thanked Viridor Credits who provided the bulk of the finance along with the many supporters and volunteers that have spent time and effort in fundraising over the past few years. Casey then said a few words of her own and told the players that when she was their age, their was no provision for girls football in the area that she lived and that although she played in a mainly boys team until she was 11, she then had to stop playing. She pointed out that our players have a great opportunity to really develop their football and maybe even play for England one day, just like she has.

After the ribbon was cut and the Clubhouse officially declared open, Casey chatted further with the girls and signed autographs much to their delight as everyone tucked into the food and drinks provided.

Many thanks to Casey, Angela, Paul, Elaine and Zoe for their help in organising the day and to all the players for making the Club what it is today.
