| Our new Club House was delivered and installed
prior to the start of the season which gave the girls, coaches
and parents somewhere dry and warm to go when the heavens
opened along with refreshements and clean toilets most importantly!
The 2008/9 playing season started with a little disappointment
as we did not have enough players to continue with our oldest
age group at Under 16s and reluctantly we had to withdraw
the team from the league with some of the players joining
Sehaven Harriers and others joining Patcham United.
The Under 10s ateended several Junior Kickers Festivals under
the watchful eye of manager Sarah Mingaye
Nevertheless, Mandi Harris began her first season as the
Under 12s manager and had a successful season finishing third
in the league behind Eastbourne Girls and Patcham United.
We had a couple of new faces join this age group who quickly
fitted in.
The Under 14s has a rather more difficult season with a run
of defeats and were under the management of Paul Cartwright.
However, towards the end of the season they finally found
their feet and competed on a much more level basis against
their opposition.
Steve Phythian took on the role as Club Development Officer
and took training sessions for girls aged 16+ with a view
to starting an open age team for Pitch Invasion. He also took
several after school sessions to attract new players at all
age groups.
At the end of the season the Club Secretary and Co-Founder,
Ruth Watson took the decision to step down from the Committee
although she agreed to continue with the website. Sarah Mingaye
also stepped down as Treasurer and Under 10s manager and Steve
Phythian also stepped down. However, plenty of new faces on
the Committee can only be a good thing as we look forward
to the new season.
