Eastbourne Girls Tournament
Saturday 8th May 2010
On 8th May the Under 10 team attended a "fun" tournament
at Eastbourne, who fielded two teams, with Southdown Rovers
being the other visiting team.
The format was planned for 7-a-side and we were expecting
to have 7 players available. Unfortunately one player could
not attend on the day, but Eastbourne and Southdown sportingly
dropped to 6 players for their two matches against Dynamos.
Dynamos won three matches and drew two of their six games.
Amy scored three goals, with Emily and Milly also getting
on the score sheet. Two of our players had to leave with two
matches to go, leaving us with just four players (gold stars
go to them). Our thanks go to Eastbourne Girls who leant us
three players to enable us to continue.
The games were played in a great atmosphere with Dynamos results
being the best so far of their three recent tournaments.

Junior
Kickers Festival
University of Brighton, Falmer
Saturday 17th April 2010
It was a beautiful warm morning for our second tournament.
The format was six-a-side and our team was Emily, Anika, Milly,
Miya and Amy. We also welcomed Jessica, a friend of Emily,
who bravely played for us in all six games even though she
is quite new to playing matches. We hope to see Jessica come
along to our training sessions and future tournaments.
Each game lasted 8 minutes. The other teams were from Worthing,
Cuckfield, Eastbourne (2 teams) , Oakwood, and Southdown.
Dynamos won one game and drew three. Another game would have
been drawn but for a bizarre own goal when the kick taken
by our goalkeeper rebounded off the back of the head of one
of our defenders and went in! Amy scored 6 good goals in all,
including a cracking free kick from distance. Emily scored
our other goal which was also a powerful free kick.
All the players took a turn in each position, Anika being
nominated player of the match in which she was in goal after
some great keeping. Miya and Milly played well, especially
when it was their turn to be defenders. The players were keen
to succeed and worked hard in the warm conditions. Anika and
Emily both needed ice packs after picking up bruises collected
during some brave and competitive challenges. Well done to
all.

Junior Kickers Festival
University of Brighton, Falmer
Saturday 27th February 2010
The rain held off for the Under 10s first tournament of the
season on the 3G astroturf at the University of Brighton (see
photos). The format was 5-a-side. Our team was Emily, Niamh,
Milly, Amy and Maya. Perhaps due to the short notice of the
tournament given by Sussex FA we were 1 of only 3 clubs represented.
However, Eastbourne Girls fielded 2 teams. The other club
present was Southdown Rovers. Each team played each other
twice so the girls got to play 6 matches, each lasting 10
minutes. The pitches were of 7-a-side "mini soccer"
size which meant that the girls had to cover a lot of ground.
Dynamo won 2 and drew 1 of their games, scoring 9 goals along
the way. Of these Amy scored 7, including a hatrick, Emily
1 and Milly 1. Milly, the second youngest player in our team,
playing in her first tournament, was named player of the match
in one of the games by the Sussex FA official. Everyone took
a turn in goal. All of the team did very well, with some good
passing by all, many good goals from Amy, and good tackling
from Milly. A special mention for Maya, our youngest player
in her first tournament, who contributed with some good passing,
tackling and marking, as well as volunteering to play in goal.
Players from all teams played the games in excellent spirit.
We appreciate that most parents observe our Code of Conduct,
but as a reminder please avoid frequent coaching of your child
from the touchline and avoid shouting frequently at any player,
including your own daughter. The reason is that this can be
itimidating, both for the child concerned and other players
from both sides and spectators.
The next tournament is due to be played at the same venue
on 27 March 2010 so all under 10s should try to keep this
date free.
