It is the annual Lions Club Donkey Derby
on Sunday 13th July 2008 at The Dell, Peacehaven. The fun starts
at 1.15pm and as usual the Club will be holding a penalty shoot
out.
I understand that the weather for the weekend is looking OK at
the moment, so no excuses, get down to the Donkey Derby, have some
fun and support the Club's community activities at the same time.
We will need several players to take a turn in goal, so bring your
goalkeeping gloves!

Membership Forms
for the new season |

For those of you that were unable to
attend the "It's a Knockout" Fun Day at the end of June,
we have this week sent out your membership forms in the post for
the forthcoming season.
All the usual paperwork is included along with several different
ways to pay the annual subscriptions. It should be fairly straight
forward, but should we need any assistance or have any queries regarding
the forms, please do not hesitate to contact either your own team
manager or Ruth Watson, Club Secretary.
All the forms must be returned to us by 31st July 2008
at the latest, so don't just put them to one side, complete
and sign the forms and get them sent back to the Club Secretary
as soon as you can. If you are having problems obtaining passport
sized photographs, Ruth has the facility to take these on your behalf
if you wish.
If you are a new player and haven't received any forms, please

Dynamo Ladies
Capture Ex-Arsenal Star |
| |
Angela
Banks, ex-Arsenal and England striker has signed for newly formed
Dynamo Ladies FC. Angela, who has been the Dynamo Girls' Honorary
President since 2004 is delighted to strengthen her ties with her
home team.
“I have been looking to get back into playing for some months
and was really pleased when the club told me that they were starting
a senior team,” Angela, a previous Golden Boot winner with
Arsenal said today. “The club are really friendly and have
a fantastic ethos of participation for the younger players and it
will be great to be starting a new team.”
The senior team starts its pre-season training next Thursday, 10th
July at Telscombe Playing Fields, Dynamo’s home ground. They
will be managed by Steve Phythian whose previous experience includes
managing teams at Saltdean United, Lancing and Lewes and a spell
as Director of Brighton’s Girls’ Centre of Excellence.
Club Chairman Paul Cartwright told us why he wanted a senior team
at the club. “It’s vital for the club that we look to
develop senior football as it gives our youth players something
to aim for as they get older. We have some superb players from the
age of 7 to 15 years old and I would hate to seem them reach 16
then have to leave our club. This way we can encourage them to continue
their football. I’m also hopeful that we can persuade some
of the new senior players to assist with coaching the girls.”
If you are interested in trying out for the team you need to be
16 or over. Come along to the training session next week or alternatively
call Steve Phythian on 01273 308414 or the Club Secretary on 01273
589366.

OK, so the weather wasn't great - a
bit wet and windy, but several representatives from Dynamos turned
out to support the annual Carnival and host another penalty shoot
out including Honorary President and Ladies player Angela Banks.
Next year I think we will have a Dynamo float, but we have ordered
sunshine for next year's event!
Next Sunday is the Lions Club Donkey Derby at The Dell, so see
you there!
