2007/8

The current season sees the consolidation of all the age groups, with teams at Under 10, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15. The Club's Charter Standard Award was successfully renewed at the end of 2007 and plans put in place to make the Dynamo Football Festival an annual event.

The Under 10 and Under 11 age groups are expanding rapidly and will hold us in good stead for future development of both the Club and the players alike.

We have six players moving up from the Under 10's to the Under 11's where they will experience their first taste of league action under the guidance of Sarah Mingaye.

Towards the end of the 2006/7 season a new assistant coach, Steve Walder, joined us and unfortunately Mark Vaesen had to take the difficult decision to step down from coaching due to his own family and work commitments.

2006/7: Onwards and Upwards

We started the 2006/7 season with over 40 playing members over four age groups, the U10's, U11's, U12's and U14's.

Martin Perkins has joined the Coaching staff as an Assistant Coach along with Steve Phythian who has taken over as Manager of the Under 14's. New faces with plenty of enthusiasm have joined the Committee in the way of Alan Burr as the Fundraising Officer, Elaine French as the U10's Parents Representative and Gill Duchossoy as the Under 12's Parents Representative.

Four of the former Under 10's have moved up to join the younger Under 11's from last season and the older Under 12's have moved up to increase numbers and strength at the Under 14 age group.

A second Race Night was held and we raised over £1,600 surpassing the previous one. The first Dynamo tournament took place in May 2007 and we have four players selected for the Brighton School of Excellence.

We wish all the teams the best of luck for the forthcoming season!

2005/06: The growth continues

As we looked ahead to the new season, it was obvious that local girls football was growing. The Club ended the season with nearly 40 playing members across four age groups, U10, U11, U12 and U13. Sarah Mingaye and Steve Bradick joined the Club to become the Under 11 and Under 12 Managers with Joe Letang joining the Club as an Assistant Coach. Further volunteers joined the Committee with the McKellars becoming expert Events Organisers.

The Under 10's entered a series of new tournaments and successfully won the December Junior Kickers Festival and the Eastbourne U10 Festival in January. The Under 11's had a fantastic season finishing 4th in the league and winning the Furngate Youth 6 aside tournament.

Our first ever Race NIght was held at Peacehaven Golf Club and we raised over £1,000 to put towards some new lights.

2004/05: Club development the key

At the beginning of the new season the club had grown to three age groups - an U10 group which met on a Saturday morning as a development group for junior players, and two league teams at U11 and U12. In October of 2004 the Club was rewarded by being appointed a Charter Standard Club, one of only a 1,000 clubs in the UK. Later that year the Club was further rewarded with a lottery grant from Sport for All. The grant enabled the Club to invest in training equipment and invest in volunteer training.

Early in the New Year, Arsenal striker Angela Banks joined the Club as Honorary President. Angela, who lives locally, attended several events at the Club including the end of season Awards day. On the pitch there was great excitement for the U11 age group as they reached the Challenge Cup Final.

2003/04: The need for a team

In July 2003 Ruth Watson, a local parent, was facing a difficulty. Her daughter who was playing in a boys team in nearby Newhaven would have to find a new girls club for her daughter as the league rules no longer allowed her to play mixed football. She decided that as there was no team in Telscombe, yet a number of girls who were keen to play, she would start her own and Dynamo GFC was formed.

Paul Cartwright was recruited as the Club's Coach and Development Officer and by September enough girls had joined to enter a team in the Sussex Girls Football League. By May 2004 the Club was growing and the Club held its first Annual General Meeting and which point Mike Wickham was elected as the Club's first Chairman.
