Coerver Coaching

Coerver Coaching What is Coerver® Coaching?

Wiel Coerver is a great Dutch coach and a soccer visionary and his ideas and methods have had a profound influence on football coaching around the world.

Back in the 1970's it was Coerver® who pioneered the innovative skill-development coaching programmes for young players by preparing dozens of new methods of skill training.

He focused on teaching ball mastery and 1 on 1 skills by encouraging youngsters to emulate the moves on world’s great players. Over the last 20 years this has been expanded into a comprehensive coaching programme for young players teaching both individual skills and team play. By the year 2000 Coerver® had expanded into a global network of soccer schools, coaching camps & training videos that have been placed among the most respected in the world with major football names both endorsing and encouraging Coerver® coaching.

Coerver Philosophy:

Coerver® Coaching’s philosophy is to promote the importance of teaching individual skill and small group combination play through its world renowned training method.

Coerver® Coaching is committed to developing programmes and methods that allow for children everywhere to have the chance to play the game and to fully develop their technical ability irrespective of ability, age or gender.

Why is Coerver® Coaching different?

The central theme of all Coerver® Coaching is that it concentrates on the improvement of both individual skills and small team group play, especially in the 6 - 14 age groups. Coerver® Coaching believes that the game is made up of a series of movements and plays involving a small number of players (1v1, 2v2, 3v3 etc.) in different parts of the field. It is when they are linked together, or broken up defensively, that these small group plays make up a game of football.

Coerver® Coaching concludes that ultimately any system of team play is only as good as the players involved. It therefore focuses on individual development both alone and in the context of small group team play.

Coerver® Coaching goals are to:-

  •  Develop skilled, confident and creative players
  •   Make the game fun to practice and play
  •   Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all
  •   Value winning but not more than character and performance
  •  Utilize the latest methods & technologies
  •  Create a professional environment within which young players can develop
  •  Provide a safe & educational experience that meets F.A. best practice criteria for all participants at every event
